Bread Machine Honey-Oat-Wheat Bread

1 comment:
They were running out of bread at the local store, so I decided to buy flour and yeast, to make a bread or more for us yesterday evening. I had the rest of the ingredients, so why not try it? I used cow milk instead of powdered milk, but it works very well with both.
"Although dense, this bread is very flavorful and has a nice old-fashioned, homemade taste. This recipe yields a 2 1/2 pound loaf."

2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 1/2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oats
3 tablespoons powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons butter, softened
cooking spray

Place the yeast, sugar, and water in the pan of a bread machine. Allow yeast to dissolve and foam, about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, mix the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, powdered milk, and salt in a bowl; set aside. Add the honey, vegetable oil, and butter to the yeast mixture, and pour the flour mixture on top.
Select the Dough cycle; press start. Allow the bread machine to complete the cycle, about 1 1/2 hours, then transfer the dough to a 9x5-inch loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray. Allow the bread to rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown, about 35 minutes.

Swiss Cheese and Grape Salsa

No comments:
I've always wanted to try new recipes, and salsa is one of them. Tastes great! Shredded Swiss cheese, chopped grapes, and pecans are tossed in honey mustard  dressing, that I absolutely love... then sprinkled with fresh tarragon for a tasty variation on classic salsa.

Original Recipe Yield 32 servings

2 cups finely shredded Swiss cheese
2 cups chopped green seedless grapes
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted*
3 tablespoons honey mustard salad dressing
2 tablespoons chopped fresh tarragon or basil
Keebler® Town House® Flatbread Crisps - Italian Herb

In medium bowl toss together cheese, grapes, pecans, salad dressing and tarragon. Serve with KEEBLER TOWN HOUSE Flatbread Crisps Italian Herb crackers.

*NOTE: To toast pecans, spread evenly on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 5 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown, stirring once or twice. This knife would be a great tool for this recipe as well as in the kitchen. We highly recommend it for you. All comments are most welcome. We'd like to hear from you!
